Bulfinch Street Church is dedicated.
May 7, 1823
Architect: Paul Willard. Also known as the Bullfinch Church, it is located on the corner of Bulfinch Street and Bulfinch Place. The congregation, the third Universalist congregation in Boston, was formed as the Central Universalist Society on January 21, 1823. Paul Dean is the first minister. It changes its name to the First Restoration Church in Boston in 1836 and becomes Unitarian in 1838. The congregation merges with the New North Church in 1862, moves to the Music Hall in 1869, and dissolves in 1873. The building is purchased by the Benevolent Fraternity of Unitarian Churches in 1869, and torn to make way for the new Bulfinch Place Chapel.
